Private Drift Experience: A Day of High-Performance Driving with a Japan F3 Pro Racing Driver Instructor

Take the wheel of a drift car on a closed professional circuit, guided from first gear to full slide by a professional racing driver.

Overview

Some experiences you watch from the grandstand. This one puts you behind the wheel. On a professional Japanese racing circuit, closed to all but your own group, you take control of a genuine drift car and learn to do what most people only ever witness: hold a car in a deliberate, controlled slide, tires smoking, engine singing off the barriers. This is a world away from the tourist novelty of putt-putting through city traffic in a go-kart. It is the real thing, on real asphalt, with a professional racing driver beside you.

Guided by professional race staff, the day is built entirely around you and your confidence. You begin with the fundamentals of a manual-transmission sports car, finding your rhythm through the gears, then progress at your own pace toward the exhilarating moment the rear steps out and you hold your first true drift. Every run is coached, every session is safe, and the thrill is yours to keep.

Because the circuit is reserved privately for your party, the day bends to you. Take the wheel for a half-day morning or afternoon, or claim the track from morning to late afternoon; larger groups can spread their driving across two days, and accommodation near the circuit can be arranged on request. Numbers are kept to six guests, so no one waits long between runs, and everyone leaves with the same wide grin and the same story to tell.

For anyone who has ever dreamed of driving flat out on a Japanese circuit, this is the rare invitation to stop dreaming and start driving.

Details
❖ Your Instructor: Hiroki Kokuzawa

Hiroki Kokuzawa is a professional racing driver who turned to motorsport after an injury ended a career in athletics. Inspired by watching Formula 1 on Japanese television, he made his racing debut at 21 behind the wheel of a formula car.

His competitive record spans nearly a decade of Japanese motorsport: the 2011 SUPER FJ Tsukuba Series as a spot entry; the 2012 SUPER FJ Tsukuba Series, with a 3rd place in the final round; in 2014, completing the SRS-F Suzuka Racing School Formula and contesting the Motegi 1.5 Challenge Cup, where he qualified 2nd and finished 4th; in 2015, a 2nd in class in Mini Joy Endurance at the Motegi 2-hour; the 2016 FIA-F4 Japanese Championship; a 3rd place in Round 2 of the 2018 Pirelli Super Endurance (Super Taikyu) Series in the ST-TCR class; and a spot entry in the 2019 All Japan F3 Championship. Today he is active both as a racing driver and as an instructor.

❖ The Car: Nissan Silvia

The car is a naturally aspirated, manual-transmission Nissan Silvia, built to withstand long periods of drifting. Its front and rear tires are intentionally mismatched, making it easier to hold a sustained tail-slide.

❖ The Experience

You drive a domestic Japanese manual-transmission sports car. You begin with a check of the manual controls and practice shifting, steering and braking; once your instructor is confident you have the basics, he guides you into drifting.

Because the cars are sensitive to heavy loads, each run lasts only a few minutes, and drivers rotate through in turn, so please be patient while others take theirs. Every participant is brought to the minimum level needed to drift. Should a vehicle problem arise, a session may end without drifting, as safety always comes first.

❖ Sessions and Availability

The experience is offered as a half-day morning session (9:00 to 12:00) or afternoon session (13:00 to 16:00), or as a full day (9:00 to 16:00). On weekdays, Tuesday through Friday, all three options are available; on Saturdays, national holidays and Sundays, only the full-day option runs. A half-day session lasts around three hours, a full day around seven. Each group is limited to a maximum of six guests. Larger groups can be arranged across two days, and accommodation near the circuit can be arranged on request.

❖ Requirements and What to Wear

A valid driver's license or prior manual-transmission driving experience is required; without either, we regret that participation cannot be accepted. Please wear long sleeves, long pants and athletic shoes. T-shirts, shorts, sandals and heels are not permitted.

❖ Weather Policy

The track runs in the rain. However, if fog, heavy rain or extreme heat compromise visibility or safety, the experience may be suspended. In that case, the circuit fee for the time actually used, rounded up in 30-minute increments, is refunded afterward, while consumables and staff costs incurred up to that point are non-refundable.

❖ Application Deadline

Applications must be submitted at least 40 days before your desired date. Because the circuit itself must be reserved 40 or more days in advance, requests made later than this cannot be accommodated.
