Half-Day Kamakura Highlights Tour (Muslim & Vegetarian Friendly)

Enjoy beautiful heritage and culture in the ancient capital of Kamakura - day trip from Tokyo!

Overview

Nestled between green hills and the blue waters of Sagami Bay, Kamakura is one of Japan's most evocative destinations: an ancient samurai capital where over 800 years of history coexist with quiet Zen gardens, towering bamboo groves, and bustling temple streets. Founded as the seat of military power in 1185 by Shogun Minamoto no Yoritomo, Kamakura prospered as the political heart of Japan during the Kamakura period (1185 - 1333), and many of its great Buddhist temples and shrines remain to this day.

This thoughtfully paced half-day route, Muslim and Vegetarian Friendly, offers a refined introduction to the city. The morning unfolds in stillness at Jomyoji Temple, where a meticulously raked dry-landscape garden invites contemplation, followed by the luminous bamboo groves of Hokokuji Temple, often compared to Kyoto's Arashiyama, where a traditional teahouse serves freshly whisked matcha. Lunch at Kajiya accommodates diverse dietary needs with halal-certified sauces and dedicated vegetarian and vegan menus. The afternoon concludes at Tsurugaoka Hachimangu, the city's most revered shrine and guardian deity of the samurai, and along the lively shopping promenade of Komachi Street, where Muslim guests can also access a quiet prayer space at Itohiko.
