Meet Keiko Nagasaka, an award-winning Japanese jewelry designer and a member of the Japan Jewelry Designers Association.

With over 35 years of experience, Ms. Nagasaka is renowned for combining traditional Japanese maki-e lacquer and raden (mother-of-pearl inlay) techniques with contemporary jewelry design. After beginning her career at POLA's Design Institute, she studied under some of Japan's most respected lacquer and metalwork masters before establishing her own atelier, K Design.

Her works have received numerous national and international design awards and have been exhibited in prestigious venues such as Meiji Jingu, Wako Ginza, the Vicenza Oro jewelry exhibition in Italy, and the Hong Kong Jewellery Show.

In this workshop, you'll have the rare opportunity to learn directly from a master artisan whose creations bridge centuries-old Japanese craftsmanship with modern design.

Meet your guide at the ticket gate of Kitashinagawa Station. After a brief introduction, you will walk together to the artisan’s workshop, where your Raden experience begins.

❖ Selection of Your Jewelry Shape

Choose the shape for your jewelry while Master Nagasaka introduces you to the world of Raden, sharing its history, traditional techniques, and the different styles of this centuries-old Japanese art.

❖ Beginning Your Raden Creation

11:15 - 11:30

Begin creating your jewelry by applying the first layer of lacquer to your chosen piece. Master Nagasaka will remain by your side throughout the process, guiding you step by step and helping you master the delicate techniques required for Raden.

After applying the lacquer, begin selecting the pieces of natural mother-of-pearl for your design, each shimmering with its own unique hues - from delicate pinks to deep greens and blues.

❖ Arranging the Mother-of-Pearl

Create your own jewelry using centuries-old Japanese Raden techniques.

Enjoy the delicate, almost meditative process of creating your own Raden jewelry.

After the workshop, your jewelry will be left to cure for approximately one month. Master Nagasaka will then complete the piece by applying the final layer of clear lacquer. Once finished, your jewelry and chain will be carefully packaged and shipped directly to your home address.

❖ International Shipping Charges

As the lacquer requires time to fully cure and complete the traditional finishing process, your Raden jewelry cannot be taken home on the day of the workshop.

After the experience, the final finishing will be completed by the master artisan over approximately 1 to 1.5 months. Once completed, your jewelry will be carefully packaged and shipped to your home by Japan Post EMS.

Shipping fees are charged separately from the workshop price and are payable directly to the atelier on the day of the experience. The rates below are approximate minimum charges per shipping address, calculated for parcels weighing up to approximately 0.5 kg.

• Southeast Asia (Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Brunei): from ¥1,900

About Delivery

Following the workshop, your jewelry will undergo the final curing and finishing process in the master's atelier.

Please allow approximately 1 to 1.5 months for completion before your finished piece is shipped to your home.
