Tadao Ando’s Personal Collection & Culinary Experience at The Gallery Omotesando

Step inside a private gallery showcasing original architectural drawings, photographs and a rare 1:10 scale model from Tadao Ando's personal collection, then enjoy an Ando-inspired lunch or dinner in the same building.

Overview

Discover the work of Tadao Ando at The Gallery Omotesando, a private gallery in the heart of Omotesando. Explore a remarkable collection featuring ten original architectural drawings personally selected by Ando, original photographs taken by the architect himself, and the rare 1:10 scale model of the Row House in Sumiyoshi (Azuma House)—one of only four in the world. From August 2026, the gallery also showcases newly added drawings and photographs from the Pulitzer Foundation, Langen Foundation, Chateau La Coste, Fabrica, Times I & II, and the Osaka Prefectural Chikatsu-Asuka Museum, together with a rare oversized edition of ANDO'S HANDS: Tadao Ando Works 1976–2020.

An English-speaking specialist guide leads you through the exhibition, offering insights into Ando's architectural philosophy and the stories behind his most celebrated works. Each original drawing is accompanied by exclusive video commentary, in which Ando reflects on the design concept while sketching by hand, providing a unique perspective on his creative process.

Complete your visit with an Ando-themed lunch or dinner course, where traditional Japanese dashi is reimagined through contemporary techniques. Served in the adjoining private dining space, the meal creates a seamless experience combining architecture and gastronomy under one roof. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic pairings are available, and vegan, halal, and other dietary requirements can be accommodated with advance notice.
